The hospitality industry has ancient roots.It's one of the oldest in the world, predating biblical times.  No one can identify a time in mans' history when hospitality wasn’t present in one form or another.  It is obvious that as the world shrinks smaller and smaller, and we all become increasingly more and more mobile, the industry will flourish beyond our most ambitious and creative imaginations. 

With the growth of the industry assured, young people considering it as their chosen career field will have an opportunity to be richly rewarded in ways they not only would expect but also in ways they would never dream of.

Take a moment and consider just how big a role this industry plays in our lives.  Our mothers are advised by nutritionists, fed and cared for in the hospital where you are born, you travel with your family as you grow and develop, visiting restaurants, parks and motels  You find food service available throughout your entire educational experience.  If you join the military you are housed and fed by industry professionals.  As you begin to date you find romance in dining out and being entertained.  You may share your wedding with friends and family at your wedding reception.  Throughout your entire life hospitality will play a significant role in your health, pleasurable moments, moments of sickness and times of sorrow.  As you grow older you may find comfort in the care given to you in a retirement facility.  Yes, and even as you leave this journey on earth behind your friends and family traditionally will comfort one another by celebrating your life in a final reception.

There is no other career field that provides an individual such an incredible opportunity to be totally involved with all walks of life.  This career field is immersed in every facet of our lives. Medical, education, business and industry, government, travel, recreation, celebrations, family events, the list is endless.

It is an industry you either love or hate.  If you truly love it and put everything you have into it, it will reward you with benefits you can’t find in any other industry.  You will have new challenges every day, you will never find time to be bored, you will constantly be meeting new people, each day you will discover new ways to help people enjoy themselves, you will learn about, and master, production, merchandising (beautiful displays), cost controls, safety and sanitation, public relations, finance, marketing and the list goes on.  Most of all, you will be surrounded by other professionals that love what they are doing as much as you do. 

Because of its growth and the commensurate need for dedicated personnel, your career will go as far and as fast as you want it to, from wait staff or cook, to Chef, CEO or owner.  This is the only industry that offers such a direct fast track to success.
